Lesser Town Bridge In Prague, Towers & Charles Bridge Views

The Lesser Town Bridge Towers in Prague are rather nice to look at, but even better to climb for the views. The towers are also known as Malostranské mostecké věže. They built the two towers in two distinct styles.

They are both connected by a gate. The gate is the entrance to the Lesser Town at the Prague Castle end of the iconic Charles Bridge.

Smaller Tower

This tower dates from the 12th century. They constructed the smaller tower originally in the Romanesque style. Subsequently, in 1591, they redesigned it in the Renaissance style.

The Taller Tower

They built the taller of the two towers in the Late Gothic style in 1464. They based the design on the architecture of the Old Town Bridge Tower at the other end of the Charles Bridge. This is the tower you climb when visiting the attraction.

From its viewing area at the top of the Gothic tower, you get a fabulous view of the Vltava River, the castle, and the historic old town.

Visiting the Lesser Town Bridge Tower

Visiting the tower is pretty straightforward. There is a ticket office at the entrance. You pay the fee, then climb up. There are lots of stops, with a few breaks along the way up. There are a few information boards along the way up that are rather interesting. Visiting this tower should take only an hour, unless you are taking some serious photographs from the viewing area.

Views From Above The Gate

After a few flights of stairs, you can go outside to the top of the gate and enjoy magnificent views across the Charles Bridge.

In the other direction, you can see the distinctive dome of St Nicholas Church and also the buildings towards Prague Castle.

Views From The Top

The top viewpoint offers a fantastic view across the iconic Charles Bridge and beyond into Old Town. You can see many of the city’s spires and towers from here.

There are many opportunities for photographs from the top windows of the fortifications.

The top of the tower is a splendid place to see the scale of the Prague Castle Complex.

Review of The Lesser Town Bridge Tower in Prague

The Lesser Town Bridge Tower is one of many great viewpoints in the city. It was also one of the quieter visitor attractions in Prague during my visit.
