Restaurants in Ptuj, Slovenia: Bars, Cafes & Food
There are some lovely options for bars and restaurants in Ptuj which certainly enhance a visit. Many of these specialise in Slovenian food and drink. In Ptuj, we enjoyed quite a few beers and some delicious meals out.

We mostly sat outside during our visit to Ptuj and had no issues with Henry. We saw other patrons inside many establishments with their pets. The city has some fantastic cafes and bars, as well as a few restaurants to dine out at.
Tried And Tested Bars & Restaurants in Ptuj
Places where we enjoyed drinks and food while visiting Ptuj.
Muzikafe With A Quirky Beer Garden
In the colourful old town area, on the side streets, is Muzikafe, a lovely venue for a drink. It has one of the best-decorated beer gardens I’ve visited. It is very quirky and a tourist attraction in its own right.

They serve a variety of drinks, including Slovenian beers, craft beers, coffees and soft drinks. All service is table-based, including in their gardens. On my visits, I found a sofa in the shade and chilled.
Gostilna Ribič

Gostilna Ribič is a top restaurant with a terrace overlooking the river. They seemed to be one of the poshest restaurants that we saw in the city during our entire visit.

Gostilna Ribič has a diverse drinks menu which includes both Slovenian beer and wine. For soft drinks, they stick to the usual options and some locally produced fruit juices, which were delicious.

Their food menu has a variety of meat and seafood options to choose from. We opted to eat their seafood platter for two. This included generous portions of squid, octopus, fish, and prawns.
Kavarna Evropa
One of our favourite cafes for coffee or beer was Kavarna Evropa. Kavarna Evropa is in the city’s main square and has views of some impressive buildings, including the town hall. They have an outside seating area and provide at-the-table service. They were very welcoming to Henry and also seemed to be dog-friendly inside, as there were other pets keeping cool in the main cafe.

Kavarna Evropa serves mainly coffee, beer, wine, and cakes and is rather popular. In the evenings, they often had live music playing, which added to the vibe. Especially with candles on the tables. Kavarna Evropa is a perfect place to watch the world go by and enjoy a drink and a pudding.
Kavarna Bodi

Some local people on Facebook groups recommended that I would enjoy some beer and a fun night out at Kavarna Bodi. The recommendations were great, and Kavarna Bodi is a fantastic bar for a drink. They serve both continental beer and Slovenian craft beers.
Kava bar Sima

Kava Bar Sima has a nice outside seating area overlooking the pretty buildings on the street. Kava Bar Sima was dog-friendly outside; however, it was not inside.

They serve coffee and a range of Slovenian beers, including Lasko and Union. I found it to be quite a social venue with friendly regulars and staff.
Pizzeria Njami
If you’re on a budget or fancy a fast-food treat, then Pizzeria Njami is a good option. They are in the city centre, near the river and the Monastery of St Peter and Paul. They have an outside seating area with good views.

For food, we opted for their pizza and kebabs, which were delicious and hit the spot. They also serve beers, including my favourite Slovenian option, Union. The staff here was friendly, and we enjoyed visiting for food and just a drink.
Pekarna Hlebec Bakery

For a cheap lunch or a late snack, head to Pekarna Hlebec. They serve traditional Slovenian pastries with options for sweet and savoury ones. This includes various varieties of burek, a Balkan speciality savoury pastry. These are ideal to take sightseeing or on a walk in the nearby countryside.
