Cafes & Bars In Split For Nice Coffee or Beer
Split is a fantastic city to visit, and a great part of the day is enjoying a drink on a terrace when the weather is nice. We enjoyed many places for coffee and beer during our visit to the city. We found many options for drinks with a view, including along the waterfront and even one on Marjan Hill with a splendid view of the city.

Bars in Croatia tend to have table service, which is nice and relaxing. Drinking coffee is a popular activity in the city and a big part of Croatian culture. On our visit to Split, we found bars at various price points but noticed those on the Riva were the most expensive. The most popular beer options are Karlovacko, PAN and Ožujsko. There are also some fantastic restaurants in the city for a meal out.
Best Bars & Cafes In Split
Some tried-and-tested cafes and bars in Split for coffee or beer. Many of these were also dog-friendly.
Gourmet Bar Basta

Gourmet Bar Basta is a great place for drinks out on the waterfront and pretty easy to find from the centre. They have a comfy covered bar area and an outside seating area with fantastic views of the sea. For drinks, they have a good selection of beer, wine and delicious coffee. This was also a great place to sit down with the laptop out for remote working.
Teraca Vidilica

A nice bar to visit when walking on Marjan Hill is Teraca Vidilica. Teraca Vidilica is near the viewpoint where you can see the city from above, which makes it pretty special. They have a big outside terrace, which is a great place for drinks after a walk up the hill. They have at-the-table service and have a good range of drink options. I enjoyed many beers here while having fun in the park.
Vivas Bar

One of my favourite places for a daytime beer in Old Town was Vivas Bar. Vivas Bar in People’s Square has some epic views, including of the Iron Gate. They have quite a few outside tables, which was a big draw for us. They served excellent coffee and beer, and the prices were reasonable for the location.
Kavana Ovčice

A nice place for a drink when on Ovcic beach or walking along this stretch of the coast is Kavana Ovčice. They have a lovely terrace with views of the beach. This bar was counter service, and you had to get your own. The drinks here were great, and they had some less popular Croatian beers. We found this to be an excellent spot for a beer during sunset.

They also have a terrace on top of the bar which has special views during the daytime. We found a nice seat in the shade and enjoyed looking out to sea.
Bobis

Bobis is a cafe-bar in a special location that we enjoyed many times for early beers and coffee. It is in the courtyard of the beautiful Trg Republike; thus, the views from their outdoor seating are special. They serve great Croatian coffee and nice cold beer. I really like the views here towards the sea via the beautiful Venetian architecture.
Kavana Procaffe

On the north of the Marjan Peninsula, near the coast path, is Kavana Procaffe. Kavana Procaffe is a nice place to visit for drinks with a sea view. They have an outside terrace and a nice indoor seating area to enjoy, depending on the weather. Kavana Procaffe has a great range of drinks, including beer, coffee and wines. They also have an extensive selection of cakes to enjoy with your drink. I really enjoyed visiting here and enjoying the view with a Karlovačko.
Caffe bar La Linea

Another bar we frequented was Caffe Bar La Linea in the old town. Caffe bar La Linea is in the narrow side streets near People’s Square. We usually visited here in the evening and enjoyed sitting inside and on their terrace. They had a good range of beers and wines, including Croatian options, which were the cheapest here.
Café Kala

Another bar I enjoyed visiting in the old town area was Café Kala. Café Kala has both indoor and outdoor seating options, and vaping or smoking is allowed in both. I found this place particularly friendly, and the bar staff were great. Their drinks menu covered cocktails, wines, coffee and beer. The beer section had many options, including Croatian and some popular European brands. On my visits, I enjoyed their Vukovarsko and Leffe.
Marvlvs Library Jazz Bar

For something a bit different in the old town, I suggest Marvlvs Library Jazz Bar. This is a cool place for drinks in the evening and is quite quirky. The music is cool, the seating eclectic, and there are lots of books inside. As a bonus, they have a resident cat, which is great company. They serve a great range of drinks, including beers, wines, cocktails and shots. On our visit, the staff were welcoming, and we enjoyed our drinks here.
Caffe Bar Ladolina

A good value place for beer I found in the markets is Caffe Bar Ladolina. They have a small cafe with inside and outside seating, which is great for a break while shopping in the central markets. Their beer was cheap and the staff friendly. As a bonus, it’s a great place for people watching. I enjoyed an Ožujsko here, and it was the cheapest so far on my 2026 visit to the city.
Comodo

In People’s Square, a beautiful place in Old Town, is Comodo, a nice cafe-bar. They have both inside and outside seating to choose from. Comodo has a great drinks menu, including coffee, beers, cocktails and wines. They provide at-the-table service, and I prefer the outside seating to enjoy the views of the main square. We enjoyed Ožujsko and espresso on our recent visit. As a bonus, they also accept card payments.
Etac

Just outside the old town was a basic bar called Etac, which was handy for shopping. It seemed popular with the locals, and the prices were very favourable for my wallet. I enjoyed a few beers here and really appreciated the comfy seats and the vibe. The square is also a hotbed of cats, which were fun to say hello to.
OLIVE TREE Dining & Clubbing

If you like cool places for drinks in the evening, then head to Olive Tree Dining & Clubbing. Olive Tree Dining & Clubbing is on Split Riva, the hip place to be when the sun is out or in the evenings. It’s a very eye-pleasing place with pleasant tunes. However, it can get very busy at popular times of the day. The only downside is that they only served 330 ml beers, and they were quite expensive.
Klub navijača Hajduka – Torcida

Another bar from our recent visit was Klub navijača Hajduka, which is just out of the central areas. This is a social club for the official supporters’ association for HNK Hajduk Split, the local football team. It seemed very much a locals’ bar and popular with people having a beer. Klub navijača Hajduka has an outside seating area and a very comfortable inside. I enjoyed visiting and drank a few Pan Zlatni while there.
Kalafatić Caffe Bar

On a long walk from the centre past Baclivce and Concrete beach, we stopped at Kalafatić Caffe Bar. This was a pleasant rest stop with views of a marina. Kalafatić Caffe Bar had table service and a good selection of coffee, beer and soft drinks. They also had water for Henry. Their outside seating area had some shaded seating options.
