There is a fantastic selection of restaurants and places to eat out in Mali Losinj, the Island of Vitality in Croatia. This includes some budget and more exclusive places to enjoy a meal out. Most restaurants in Mali Losinj and the rest of Losinj Island serve a range of seafood options on their menus and cooked Croatia-style. They also have Croatian beer and continental options.

In Mali Losinj, there are over 200 days of sunshine in an average year; thus, outside terraces are usually open. There are also some lovely cafe-bars in Mali Losinj for drinks at most times of the day. We have spent a lot of time on the island over the last few years and dined out often.

Lanterna Grill

If you like special views, including at sunset, then a walk around the bay to Lanterna Grill is a great option. They have a lovely terrace near a lighthouse that overlooks the sea. Lanterna Grill specialises in grilled meats and fish, all cooked to a high standard. They also have a decent wine list and beer options.

On our visit, we enjoyed their cold seafood platter and salad. This included octopus salad, tuna tartare, prawns, white fish and anchovies. This was very special and tasted delicious. We visited during the daytime, and the sea views from the outside seating area were wonderful. Overall, Lanterna Grill is a wonderful place for a treat meal out.
Restaurant PapaBepi With The Best Shaded Terrace

Pizzeria-Restaurant PapaBepi is a lovely place to dine out, with a nicely decorated terrace. PapaBepi’s menu includes a variety of foods, including seafood, meats, and pizza. They also have a fantastic selection of drinks, including Croatian beers.

On my first visit, I sat in the shaded outdoor seating area for lunch. I enjoyed a few Ožujsko beers with my meal. For lunch at PapaBepi, I chose fried calamari, as it had been missing from my plate for a while. As a side, I chose the Croatian Shopska salad. Both were delicious, and I had a great lunch out on my own.

On a subsequent visit, we shared their fish plate, which was pretty epic. This was the best take on the dish that we have tried in Croatia. The fish plate had a fantastic range of seafood, including tuna, sea bass, sea bream, mussels, squid and langoustines. It sat on a bed of chard and came with a garlicky Trieste sauce on the side.
Konoba CORRADO a Posh Place

We enjoyed visiting Konoba CORRADO, a posh restaurant in Mali Losinj, which was the closest to us when we arrived. The venue is rather nice inside. They have a great menu loaded with fresh seafood and local meats. They also serve a wonderful selection of Croatian beers and continental options. Their wine list also includes an array of local options. Their house wine was rather nice.

For food, we started with a platter of sheep’s cheese to share, which was rather creamy and tasty. For the main course, we chose a local speciality: squid stew. It included squid, potatoes, and Swiss chard, with excellent flavours. This was a hearty, delicious main course. Hopefully, I’ll get the chance to try my own version.
Buffet Porto For Fantastic Seafood Platters

Near to Plaža Sv. Martin and St. Martin’s Church is Buffet Porto, a lovely seafood restaurant. Buffet Porto overlooks the small fishing harbour and bay. They have a lovely outdoor seating area, and they are very hospitable. For drinks, they serve some great local wine by the carafe and some Croatian beers like Karlovacko.

We have dined here a few times and tried a few seafood dishes, including an octopus starter. Their black risotto was delicious and made with cuttlefish rather than squid, which some other restaurants use. Their seafood pasta was tasty too, with a fantastic ragu and some big juicy shellfish.

On another visit, we opted for the grilled fish for two people. This had 2 whole fish, some grilled squid and grilled prawns. For a side, it came with Swiss chard and potatoes. This was a delicious meal, and I would recommend trying it. Overall, Buffet Porto is a fantastic place to dine out after a coastal walk or a swim in the bay.
Buffet Trojka For Barbecued Meats
Near Čikat Bay is Buffet Trojka, a good value-for-money place for food or drinks. Buffet Trojka has a fantastic menu, most of which is grilled on their barbecue, including regular hog roasts and local lamb.

We enjoyed a few meals here, all complemented by Croatian beer, including Karlovačko. Be aware that their menu is in Croatian, German, and Italian; we had fun translating, but it all worked out well. They have a range of starters, including some delicious sheep’s cheese.

For mains, we enjoyed their grilled squid and mixed grill. Both come with sides and were very filling. The mixed grill included sausages, cevapi, pork and chicken and was rather impressive.

At the weekends, they light up the barbecue and grill fresh lamb or pig roasts. After a few tries, we tried their grilled lamb, which was absolutely delicious. The portion sizes were substantial, and it came as a sharing platter. Overall, Buffet Trojka is a fantastic place to dine out if you want to leave satisfied. Their staff are friendly, and if you’re lucky, they might offer you schnapps if the wait is long.

We’ve dined out here multiple times, usually after a swim in the bay. They have a fantastic menu with plenty of fish and meat options. For main courses, we enjoyed their mixed grill, which was loaded with meat. However, my favourite option on my visits is their fish plate, which includes lots of seafood, including red scorpionfish. They also have a simple dessert menu, which includes pancakes. Konoba Lanterna serves a variety of Croatian beers, including Karlovacko, as well as some local wines. Overall, Konoba Lanterna is a fantastic eatery with sea views.

Nostromo a Posh Eatery

Nostromo is a very pleasant place to enjoy a meal out. The eatery has both indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor area offers pleasant harbour views. We opted for the outdoor seating, as it was a lovely evening for dining out. They had an interesting wine list and had draught Karlovacko beer, too.
Their menu featured many Croatian staples, including plenty of seafood and meat options. While we read the menu, the server brought us grapes to enjoy, which was a pleasant touch.

For our meal, we opted for their Nostromo squid, cooked in a sauce made with herbs from the island. They cooked the squid perfectly, and the sauce was delicious. For sides, we enjoyed polenta and fries.
Toro Grill
On the main thoroughfare in Mali Losinj is Toro Grill, a good-value place to have a drink or a grilled lunch. Toro Grill has a lovely outdoor terrace with lots of shade to avoid the summer sun. Toro Grill sells a variety of drinks, including Croatian wines and beers like PAN.

They have an interesting menu with various options for seafood, fish and pizza. Bistro Orhideja also offers a range of drinks, including beer and soft drinks.

For our meal out here, we opted for the fish plate, a large fish platter for two. This seafood platter included fresh fish, Norwegian lobster, squid and mussels. They served it with mangel and a salad, and it was unusually garnished with orange. That worked a treat. This was a fantastic place to dine out, and the ultra-friendly staff made it even more special.
Camping Village Poljana Restaurant

We discovered a lovely restaurant in Mali Losinj at Camping Village Poljana, north of the city. They have a fantastic menu which includes lots of seafood and Croatian meats. This has both indoor and outdoor seating. Their terrace offers lovely sea views while dining out.

We enjoyed a few meals out at Camping Village Poljana while in the area. They did a very nice mixed grill, loaded with meat, including pork, beef steak, chicken kebabs, burgers, and sausages. They served this with potato wedges, onions, and a Croatian chutney.

They also serve a delicious cheese board, perfect for sharing as a starter. This featured some rather tasty Istrian cheese.

They also served a lovely light lunch of mussels in tomato sauce. The mussels were tasty, and the messy food was great fun to eat.

On our last meal at Camping Village Poljana, we opted for their sharing platter of local seafood. This included two whole grilled fish, tuna steaks, large prawns and mussels. They served this with the Dalmatian staple of Swiss chard and potatoes.
Restaurant Galeb In The Marina

Near the marina, where the yachts moor up, is Restaurant Galeb. It is a nice place with lovely decor. The servers were pleasant and helpful. I visited for lunch during the quiet time and fancied meat for a change from the seafood.

Restaurant Galeb had aged ribeye steak on the menu, so it was a simple choice for me. They served this with pea cream, potato cakes and baby vegetables. The steak was cooked to medium-rare, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Overall, this was a great place for lunch out on the island. However, they only accept cash payments.
Konoba Plitvice
Another restaurant I enjoyed lunch out at is Konoba Plitvice. Konoba Plitvice is a pleasant place with outdoor seating near Aldi and a short walk from the central areas or Cikat Bay. Konoba Plitvice is rather pleasant, with lots of flowers used as decor. The owner was friendly and spoke various languages.

Their menu includes plenty of fresh local seafood and grilled meat options. On my visit, I enjoyed a meat plate with a few beers. This included chicken skewers, pork and chicken steaks and cevapi. The meats were grilled perfectly and very tender. They served the meat plate with fries and relish.

I enjoyed some Croatian beers with my meal out, along with a complimentary shot of local liquor. One thing to note: if you are visiting, they accept only cash.
Eat Out At Agro Tourism

Agro Tourism is a quirky place to visit with some rather special views. Along with the gardens, they have loads of tables for drinks or a meal out. Throughout the day, they offer juices produced on the island, beer, or wine.

They also have a food menu for meals out on selected evenings. These take place mostly on summer evenings. The best thing about here is the seating options and the special views.
