Lamareda Étterem és Bisztró

We spotted the pets welcome sign and free seats at Lamareda Étterem és Bisztró in Gyor, so we decided to pop in to read the menu. Their servers were very accommodating. Their food menu was interesting, with some delicious-sounding twists on traditional Hungarian cuisine.

For food, we ordered their goulash with egg dumplings and pickled cucumber with dill. They had cooked the goulash for 72 hours; thus, it was fantastically tender. The presentation and taste were top-notch, and I was delighted to dine out here while sightseeing.

Vienna Coffee Ltd

A lovely place where we enjoyed coffee, beer, and lunch was the courtyard of Vienna Cafe Ltd. Their courtyard and interior are rather nice, and both are pet-friendly. Their coffee menu is comprehensive, and they have some really tempting puddings. For lunch they also do some tasty sandwiches. I enjoyed their chicken, ham and cheese, which was toasted.

Westy Hajó Étterem & Pub

For a unique place to dine out in Gyor, you might want to visit Westy Hajó Étterem & Pub.

Westy Hajó Étterem & Pub is basically a boat that’s turned into a restaurant. They have both inside and outside dining areas.

On my visit, it was a warm day; thus, I opted to enjoy beers and a meal on the terrace. For beer, they had Borsodi on draught, which I had a few of while taking in the river views.

They have a good selection of Hungarian dishes on their food menu and, at lunchtime, have a cheap lunch menu. The set menu includes soup and a main course. For soup, I tried Meggyleves, a cold cherry soup, which is delicious.

For the main course, I enjoyed a pork loin cooked with sesame seeds and served with potatoes. Overall, Westy Hajó Étterem & Pub was a pleasant place to spend time, and the food was cheap and delicious.

Café Frei: A Coffee House

In the side streets of Széchenyi Square, in Gyor, is Café Frei, a nice place for a drink or a light bite. They have a good range of drinks, including coffee and some nice beers. I enjoyed a Bernard premium lager on my visit while sitting on their outdoor seating. The views were nice, the service was great, and I found it an enjoyable spot for refreshments. If you want to eat, they have sandwiches, cakes, and pastries. Overall, Café Frei is a lovely place for a drink and to watch the world go by.

Bohém Tanya: A Nice Bar

For a drink in the shade near the theatre, Bohém Tanya is a pleasant place. They have some nice outdoor seating and provide table service. Bohém Tanya serves a variety of beers, including Borsodi, a Hungarian lager-type beer. They also serve a variety of spirits and cocktails. It’s a vibrant bar, especially at the weekend.

Palffy Etterem: A Hungarian Restaurant

One of the best restaurants in Gyor is Palffy Etterem, a lovely place for drinks or to dine out. They have an outside seating area in Széchenyi Square with wonderful views of the architecture. They serve a range of beers, including draught Soproni and various continental options. I enjoyed a few beers here in the quiet parts of the day and found the service to be great.

Palffy Etterem has a wonderful food menu with lots of options. To start, they have various soups, including the Hungarian staples goulash and creamy garlic. Their main course menu has lots of delightful dishes, including options like gipsy steak and beef cheek with dumplings.

Kulissza Pub & Terasz

Another pleasant bar I found for drinks in the centre of Győr is Kulissza Pub & Terasz. Kulissza Pub & Terasz is a pleasant place with both indoor and outdoor seating. As it was summer, I enjoyed a relaxing time on their terrace.

They serve a variety of drinks, including beer, cocktails, and coffee. I enjoyed a few bottles of cold Borsodi during my visit.
