Self-service laundrettes in Hungary, including Laundry in Budapest
As a slow traveller who has spent lots of time in Hungary, I am a frequent visitor to the laundrettes in the country. This includes those in the capital, Budapest. Travelling light means many visitors to places in Hungary need to do some laundry. We usually visit the laundrette weekly when on the road.

Throughout Hungary, including in Budapest, the major chain of laundrettes/laundromats is Bubbles. Bubbles has a loyalty scheme that gives you discounted washes and dries as a member. You can sign up for this via their app. As a bonus, you can also reserve washing machines or dryers.

Bubbles Mosoda Budapest: A 24/7 Self-Service Laundrette

There are various branches of Bubbles Laundrette in Budapest, including one near Keleti Railway Station and in the Jewish Quarter. My preferred laundry is Bubbles Mosoda in Budapest’s Jewish Quarter, a short walk from the Deák Ferenc tér railway station. The launderette has lots of washing machines and dryers, including some very big ones for large loads.
Once you load the machine, there is a console to select your wash type and to pay. If you have an account, you log in here for a slight discount. It’s all pretty simple, and the machine has various languages, including English. They have a folding table and plenty of baskets to sort your laundry.

It’s quite a comfortable place with a small sofa to wait on. However, I usually order a beer at Antré Étterem, which has a terrace overlooking the laundrette entrance. I usually let the server know I’m going to pop off to put clothes in the dryer so they don’t take my drink.
Some hostels and apartments in Budapest also have a washing machine. When searching on Booking.com, you can filter for accommodations with a washing machine in the room facilities section.

Bubbles Mosoda in Keszthely Near Lake Balaton
Another place I’ve visited to do the laundry is Bubbles Mosoda in Keszthely. They are slightly out of town, next to the big Spar supermarket, but are easy to reach from our accommodation. Other laundrettes in the city seemed to be dry cleaners and not 24/7. They have a few machines for washing and drying, all operated by a screen where you log on for a discount and pay for the wash you require.

There is seating at the laundrette; however, there is nowhere nearby for a beer, unfortunately for me. Here, I usually pick up a soft drink from the nearby bakery and wait for the laundry to be done. They also have a small bench outside with views of the car park.

Laundrette in Pécs

A short walk from the principal attractions in Pécs is Bubbles Mosoda. On visits, they have been quiet, and all the washing machines were free for washing and drying. To use the laundry, you have to use their control console to select washes and pay, which is pretty straightforward. They have buckets and a folding table to make life simple while visiting.

Inside, they have comfy seating to use while you wait. However, I usually pop out for a beer while the washing is going, as the machines don’t open. Piazza del Grano is a nice restaurant in Pécs that is nearby and is handy for a beer, coffee or a light bite.
