Birmingham Beach Funfair in Digbeth – Updated for 2026
A recent addition to Birmingham’s summer entertainment options is Digbeth, a.k.a. Birmingham Beach. The fair has many rides, from tame kids’ rides to a few that are a bit more extreme. I love visiting funfairs and amusement parks.

The most iconic was Prater amusement park in Vienna. I had a great few hours of fun on a sunny Saturday afternoon, enjoyed quite a few of the rides, and watched others too. You can find various funfairs and amusement parks in the West Midlands on the Viator website. This includes Drayton Manor, which has some excellent rides.
The centrepiece of the Digbeth funfair is the giant Ferris wheel, offering magnificent views of the city skyline. They have about 25 rides and a variety of games of skill you can enjoy and win prizes in. Digbeth Funfair also has some refreshment stalls, selling all the usual funfair fare, like burgers and chips.
Where is Digbeth Funfair/Birmingham Beach?
The funfair in Birmingham has changed location since our last visit and is now near the Bullring shopping centre. The current 2026 site is on Digbeth High Street, just up from the old Crown, postcode: B12 0LL. They typically open at 2 pm.

You can easily reach the funfair from Moore Street and New Street Stations. It is very walkable from the city centre and from the bars of Digbeth. As a bonus, it’s handy to visit the restaurants of Chinatown after some fun on the rides.
Opening Hours
During the summer holidays, they open from 11th July until 31st August 2026. The funfair opens daily at 12 pm during the summer. They advertise availability on their Facebook page. You can also find further information on their website.
My Visit to Digbeth Funfair/Birmingham Beach
I had a great time at the fair when I visited, and it was a pretty slick operation – not too much queuing. The first stop when entering the fairground was to purchase some tokens at one of the many kiosks that have them. The kiosks accept both cash and card payments, and one token equals a pound. The first stop was the Ferris wheel.
The Ferris Wheel or “Big Wheel”

The Ferris Wheel, or “Big Wheel”, is one I had been on before during the Christmas Markets, where it was at Centenary Square.

These city centre Ferris wheels are a great place to see the city skyline; it is no different here, and you get some splendid views.
The City Flyer

The flyer is an excellent ride if you enjoy heights, wind in your hair and your legs dangling. This ride was at Centenary Square a few Christmases ago and was great then too. One of my favourite versions of this ride is also at Prater Amusement Park and called the Prater Turm.

After getting strapped in safely, the ride lifts off the ground and then spins, forcing the seats to tilt. As it spins, the ride gets higher and higher. The views from the top are pretty cool. You can see the Birmingham skyline, the Custard Factory and the hotel formerly known as the Paragon.
The Wild Mouse Rollercoaster

The Wild Mouse is a fun rollercoaster and is suitable for people of all ages. Children under a certain height need to be accompanied. This ride takes you high for magnificent views, then offers some nice dips and turns at speed.
Waltzers

One of the classic fairground rides that I always enjoy. These Waltzers were particularly fast and great fun; the tunes were good too.
The Ghost Train

An old favourite spooky ride designed to scare. This was fun too and had some gory bits.
Games of Skill

There were options for games of skill or chance, ranging from throwing darts or bags to shooting hoops. The prizes in the main here are stuffed toys. I won the dog a friend on the darts challenge. This was a complete fluke on my part.
Other Rides at Digbeth Funfair in Birmingham
There were plenty of rides that I didn’t try on this visit. Beer was calling, as was a delightful meal out at Rico Libre, a Spanish tapas bar. There were many options for children’s rides; I’m too big for them, but they looked great fun for little people.
These rides caught my eye for next time.
- The dodgems, a traditional fairground attraction, have these in both adult and child sizes.
- A reverse bungee that launches visitors high into the air.
- A 360-degree ride called the wild whirl. This was pretty high, and I imagine the g-forces were great on this.
I found this video which shows much of what the fairground offers.

Good place to have fun on rides open tile 10pm every ride you want is here for you
They certainly have some epic rides, I’ve still got a few left to try.
