Dog Friendly Pubs, Restaurants in Gloucester & Gloucestershire
I spend lots of my free time in my home county of Gloucestershire, which has enabled me to find some great dog-friendly pubs and restaurants in Gloucester. This includes pet-friendly places to dine out in Gloucester and the nearby villages.

I have visited many pubs, restaurants and attractions while out walking or camping with the dog in tow. There are also many options for pet-friendly accommodation in Gloucestershire. This includes hotels and holiday homes.

Overall, dog-friendly pubs and eateries are abundant in Gloucestershire. This guide includes my preferred options rather than all options. To treat your pet and make them presentable after walkies in the beautiful countryside, you can find a local groomer. The Dog House in Dursley is a company I have used before to tidy my Cavaliers’ fur.

Some of my favourite places to visit with the dog in tow for a beer or two. This includes pub and restaurant options in Gloucester and nearby villages.
The Pilot Inn, Hardwicke

The Pilot Inn is on the Gloucester to Sharpness Canal in the village of Hardwicke. They serve some excellent beer and have a nice vibe, possibly, as I know many of the locals. Hardwicke is great for walking, and there are many circular walks to do starting at the pub, including down to the River Severn.
The Pilot has a nice cosy bar, a restaurant area and loads of outdoor seating overlooking the water, ideal for a sunny day. They are completely dog-friendly throughout the pub and have a few bowls of water around the pub and garden.
Hop Kettle
The Hop Kettle in Gloucester Docks is an excellent new pub for beer and food. They are a completely dog-friendly place that also provides treats and water bowls. The Hop Kettle is next to the Soldiers of Gloucestershire museum and has seating on a few floors and an outside terrace overlooking the docks.

They impressed me with their beer selection and plumped for their Shooting Star, a German-style pilsner. The staff were friendly, and their food menu looked tempting, but I’d already eaten when I visited.
The Turk’s Head Micro Pub in Gloucester

A drinking hole for cider lovers, The Turk’s Head has over 25 different ciders on draught. The pub has a unique set of rules, including no phones inside, limits on the number of beards, and pets are completely welcome. This is a very sociable pub, and there’s always someone to have some banter with. They have decorated it with lots of beer and cider memorabilia, making it a unique place to have a drink.

The pub is friendly and serves a selection of great beers. The building is timber-framed and makes you feel you have stepped back in time.

They also have a lovely courtyard for alfresco drinking. This is especially nice on a summer’s evening. They are dog-friendly in both the bar and courtyard, and the staff offer water to thirsty dogs.

A canal-side eatery that also brews its own beer on-site and gives brewing lessons. This place serves great food for a chain restaurant, and I have always enjoyed my visits with the puppy.
