Best Bars and Restaurants in Knin, Croatia

Knin has plenty of places to eat or have a drink, including some very pleasant restaurants and bars. We enjoyed dining out and having drinks while on our two visits to the town. One noticeable thing was that prices in Knin were much lower than near the coast, where we spent the month between our visits.

Restaurant highlights included the sharing platters, spit-roasted pork, and ćevapi. If I had to pick a favourite to recommend, it would be Restoran Tvrđava at the fortress. For drinks, there’s a place to enjoy a beer from 6 am until midnight in town.

Tried and Tested Bars & Restaurants in Knin

Restoran Tvrđava Knin

While visiting the fortress, we enjoyed a meal out at Restoran Tvrđava Knin. This is a posh place with indoor dining and serves lots of local dishes. They also have a terrace with splendid views; however, on our visit, it was far too cold for alfresco dining.

Their food and drink menu had some great local options. For a drink, I opted for a beer from the local brewery, Kninsko pivo, which was delicious. Since we were hungry, we shared their plate for two, which was hearty and delicious. This included chicken, burgers, breaded pork steak, medallions in mushroom sauce, baked potatoes, rice, vegetables and French fries.

The service and food were great, and I would certainly return to try more of their menu in their outdoor seating area.

Buffet Dinara

For a good value meal out, I visited Buffet Dinara in the town centre. This small, cafe-like place specialises in grilled food, including ćevapi and grilled meats. The menu was very reasonably priced, especially after spending the last month or so at the seaside.

I opted for their mixed plate, which was massive and could probably feed two people. The grilled meats were really nice, and we left full. For a drink, I enjoyed a nice cold beer.

Tri lovca

Near the Lidl supermarket is Tri Lovca, a hotel and restaurant. On my visit, I initially popped in for a drink after a long walk to the waterfall. However, they had a barbecue with spit-roasted pork, so I requested a menu. They have a simple menu with various roast meat options, including pork, lamb and chicken.

They served it with various salads and bread, which made for a nice lunch out. Other menu options include pizza and charcuterie. I really enjoyed eating here and found it filling and budget-friendly.

Vještica Food Truck

For our first meal, we were tired and didn’t fancy dining out, so we popped to Vještica Food Truck. This takeaway joint serves burgers, ćevapi, and sides. We enjoyed their ćevapi, which were cooked to order. The food was delicious and a nice treat.

Caffe Bar Square

Another place where I enjoyed beer was Caffe Bar Square, a popular place with locals. It is in the main square near the railway station and offers both indoor and outdoor seating. Drink prices were good here, as they are in many inland places in Croatia. I enjoyed a Karlovačko or two in their covered outdoor seating area and found the service great.

?UB Pub Knin

A pretty cool place to visit on the main street is ?UB Pub Knin. The bar has lovely decor inside and outside and is great for chilling. They have a big range of drinks, including an extensive selection of beers. On my visit, I enjoyed some local craft beer inside the bar. They also have a nice outdoor seating area.

Royal Terrace Caffe Bar

Below the fortress and the river is Royal Terrace Caffe Bar, a great place to start and end a walk along the river. I enjoyed a few stops here and enjoyed sitting on their balcony with a Croatian beer. They also have an indoor seating area with views. They also serve drinks and food like burgers, ice creams, and gyros.
