Mountain Hiking

Hiking Adventure

My preferred option for being active in the snow-covered mountains is hiking or walks near the top of the peaks. Poiana Brasov is also a great place to hike out of season and is quite stunning.

Hiking in Brasov

One such walk I enjoyed in autumn was From Brasov to the resort via Solomon’s Rocks. When the white stuff is on the ground, a cable car gives you a lift to reach the peak of Postavarul. The views from above the resort are fabulous and well worth the cable car ride up.

Hike on the ski slopes

The lower areas of the mountain are also good for a hike. These pass through a few of the less frequently used ski slopes. This is in pine forests on either side of Poiana. Obviously being prepared while on an expedition in the mountains is important. In the winter, the cold is a risk factor, however in the summer the heat can be a challenge.

Mountain Biking

Another popular activity to do in Poiana Brasov is mountain biking. This usually takes place when the snow has gone and the skit season is over. Many people ascend the mountain with off-road bikes on the Postavarul express gondola.

Gondola

The cable cars are great for hikers who wish to start near to the top for a hiking expedition in the snow-covered mountains. These also run throughout the year and are great for hiking adventures after the ski season has finished.

Gondola Views

On the Postavarul express, you can also take mountain bikies to the higher parts of the area. It is a popular activity during the warmer months. I love the ride up the mountain from Poiana Brasov for the views from the windows.
