Best Bars & Restaurants in Constanta & Mamaia in Romania
Constanta and Mamaia in Romania have great options for bars and restaurants to visit for drinks or food. There are many options for traditional Romanian restaurants, seafood places, and those serving international cuisine. This includes Greek, Italian, and Turkish restaurants.

There are also plenty of good bars in Constanta and at the Mamaia beach resorts. Most have outside seating and provide table service. I enjoyed many bars on the beach and in Constanta’s old town.
The Constanta marina area also has plenty of restaurants for drinks or a meal out. The water views really add to the holiday vibe.
Best Bars & Restaurants in Constanta & Mamaia
Some of the best bars and restaurants that we enjoyed while visiting Constanța and Mamaia in Romania.
La Ana și Ion a Traditional Romanian Restaurant

La Ana și Ion is a traditional Romanian restaurant in Constanța’s Old Town. The restaurant is on Bulevardul Tomis 17, near Ovidius Square in the heart of the old town. Many other dining options line the street, with nice eateries and bars nearby.

They created the restaurant around great-grandmothers’ living rooms, and the places sailors and holidaymakers visited back in the 50s. Visitors used to include sailors, the captains and even gents in tailcoats. Ana Ion is a lovely place with a great atmosphere.

Their menu focuses on traditional dishes, cooked with fresh ingredients. We tried a few dishes here on a couple of visits. The Romanian tripe soup, or ciorba de burta, was delicious.

For the main course, I had the Pomana porculi, or the final party for the pig. This was basically pork, polenta and pickled cucumber, a simple dish but delicious and filling. The other main course enjoyed on this trip was the ever-popular sarmale.

On my second visit, I opted for their “Cooking Platter” to share, an impressive spread. This included slow-cooked mutton, sarmale, bean stew, smoked pork bites, Pomana porculi, pickles and some salad.
The View Restaurant

The nearest restaurant to Constanta Casino is The View, a place with a balcony overlooking the building and surrounding area. Views include the iconic building, parts of Old Town, the sea, the port and the Orthodox Cathedral.
The View has three floors: the ground floor is a cafe bistro, the 1st floor is a restaurant, and the rooftop terrace opens only in summer. The food here is popular, and they classify the menu as sophisticated. In addition to serving great food, The View hosts live music year-round, making it a cool place to visit.
La Peste, a fish restaurant in Mamaia

A fish restaurant located just off the main road in Mamaia Nord, with outdoor seating in the shade. They had a great selection of dishes. I opted to enjoy what they called anchovy, which was basically whitebait, one of my favourite meals. They served this with pickles and fries. Ursus was the drink of the day: a refreshing, good-value lager often available throughout Romania.
Nikos, a Greek Restaurant in Mamaia Sat

A Greek restaurant in the new Mamaia-Sat area with a very pleasant outdoor seating area. Nikos serves traditional Greek dishes and seems very popular, with many full tables during the evening service.

I enjoyed a favourite of mine, souvlaki, which is pork cooked on a skewer on an outdoor grill; they served this with flatbread, tzatziki, potatoes and salad. For dessert, I enjoyed a chocolate-filled pastry dish which was very sweet and absolutely fantastic.
Terasa Casa Românească a Romanian restaurant

A traditional Romanian restaurant on Mamaia’s main strip, not too far from the cable car. This was a delightful place inside and very busy, always a good sign. I had a feast here and ordered far too much, and my eyes were bigger than my belly for this meal out. I started with a platter of Romanian cheese and ham served with salad and pickles.

This would have been ideal as a main, but it was my starter. For my main course, I chose my favourite meal: mixed grill. The mixed grill included mici, sausage, lamb, pork, and chicken and was served with fries and a plate of pickles. I thoroughly enjoyed this and was very full. Throughout the meal, I enjoyed local wine and beer. This was a fantastic meal, but I regret ordering too much.
I enjoyed a few other meals out and enjoyed a few local variants of what I call the Interrail Brunch; this includes local bread, cheese and cold meats.
LUJO Beach Bar in Mamaia Sat
LUJO Beach Bar is a lovely place for a drink, for lunch, or to sit down with the laptop and do some work. The bar is just off the Mamaia Sat promenade and is one of many in the area.

They offer a range of dishes for diners to enjoy. This includes traditional Romanian soups, including chicken, bacon, or fish soups. These were tasty. LUJO also serves a range of burgers, including some big ones with bacon and pickles. Stone-baked pizza seemed to be a very popular choice with other diners.

They have many drink options, including a few nice continental beers. They also have a few local beers, like Ciuc, which is a great summer drink.
Osteria d’Italy Restaurant in Mamaia

Another seafront restaurant in Mamaia is Osteria d’Italy, which serves a wonderful variety of food. On our visit, we enjoyed carp, which was presented nicely and tasted good. Their house burger is also pretty tasty.

Their main beer to enjoy is the Italian Birra Moretti, which is nice on a warm day. The restaurant’s terrace is a nice place to hang out while on holiday at the nearby resort.
Hotel Almar Restaurant

Hotel Almar in Mamaia is a pleasant place to pop in for a drink. They have a nice pool and a comfy bar area. Their food menu is nice, especially their desserts. Hotel Almar also has rooms to rent and looks like a great place to stay.
Zoom Beach Bar

There are many bars on the beach; however, some areas are farther away if you want a quieter time. The bars are all reasonably priced. Some have lovely shaded areas to sit and get out of the sun. Others serve food too, including ice cream options to cool down.
My favourite bar was Zoom Beach. They had a bar area with lovely sea views. They also had sun loungers with parasols for sitting, relaxing, or sunbathing.
Aqua By The Sea

Aqua by the Sea is a lovely restaurant that specialises in Mediterranean-style cuisine. It has splendid views across the port and is quite stylish inside. Their menu is extensive, with plenty of drink and food options. Food options include Greek dishes, pasta, risotto, and plenty of seafood.
Suada Restaurant & Bar
Suada is a lovely restaurant with nice outdoor seating with views across the marina. They serve a variety of Romanian beers, wines and cocktails. They also serve some local cuisine, including Black Sea seafood.
Green Pub

In the centre of Constanta, Green Pub is a cool place to hang out. They have a really nice indoor seating area and a terrace for when the weather is nice. For drinks, they have some good options, including local and continental beers. They also serve cocktails and shots. You can also enjoy food at Green Pub. Their menu includes pizzas and other Italian dishes. Overall, the Green Pub is a nice place to stop while exploring the central areas of the city.
Cafe Roma: A Cheap Bar

Cafe Roma is a small bar at the edge of Parcul Gării, the beautiful park with epic fountains. It’s a bit of a local bar and pretty basic; however, it’s quite cheap. They have both inside and outside seating, including some sofas outside. They mostly serve Romanian beer, including Ciuc. As a bonus, they have a few cats for company if you are drinking out alone. Cafe Roma also serves Romanian food; however, not during my visit.
Mackerel Beach Bar in Mamaia Nord

Mackerel Beach Bar overlooks the Black Sea in Mamaia Nord. It’s your regular beach bar, with drinks and music playing. I found the staff pretty friendly during my visit. For beer, I enjoyed a Hoegaarden, one of my favourite Belgian beers. They also have a food menu if you want to dine out. Overall, Mackerel Beach Bar was a nice place for a drink while on a long beach walk to the breakwater.
Fishy Bistro Cafe
On the coast road, between Mamaia Resort and Constanta Marina, is Fishy Bistro Cafe. I found this place while looking for a launderette, but I also found a few other nice things to see, including a nice beach. They have a nicely decorated indoor seating area and a small terrace outside.

Fishy Bistro Cafe has a good range of drinks, including ice-cold draught beers. They also have a seafood-focused menu. Overall, Fishy Bistro Cafe in Constanta is a nice restaurant to visit.
Playa Del Mar

Another cool bar that I enjoyed visiting while on Mamaia Beach is Playa Del Mar. They have a lovely bar area and many sun loungers to sit on, too. On my visit, you could order at the bar or be served at the table. I enjoyed a Heineken while enjoying the shade and comfy seats here. They are open from 8 am until 10:30 pm during the summer season.
Restaurant Mamaia Nord on The Mayflower Boat

If you fancy visiting somewhere unique for a meal out, Restaurant Mamaia Nord on a mock Mayflower boat might fit the bill. Their restaurant is inside a mock boat and is a fun place to visit. They have seating outside and on the ship’s various decks. We enjoyed a few beers here and some grilled fish, which was nice. The food was good, but the service was slow.
