Best Traditional Restaurants & Bars in Sighișoara
Sighișoara, Romania, offers many bars and restaurants, many of which serve traditional Romanian cuisine. There are many nice eateries inside Sighișoara Citadel, so you can enjoy the views of the old town. However, there are also some just outside the fortress walls.

There are also some nice bars and cafes to stop at for a drink while exploring the medieval town centre. Most have outdoor seating, which is great in summer.
The Best Bars & Restaurants in Sighișoara
These are my favourite bars and restaurants that I’ve eaten at or enjoyed a drink at in Sighișoara. We found many restaurants in the medieval town that served good food and delivered what we wanted.
Hotel Restaurant Sighișoara

This was a very nice restaurant in the citadel with excellent reviews. The mixed grill on the menu was a big draw, too. We sat outside in their pleasant garden to enjoy our evening meal and a few drinks. Drinks, as usual, were Ursus and a bottle of Romanian wine. To start, I chose Romanian sausages. These were delicious and well-cooked. For the main course, I enjoyed the mixed grill. This included mici, pork, chicken and pickles.

On a subsequent visit, we dined out with the dog and enjoyed a light lunch of soup and mici. They were dog-friendly, and Henry was fine to sit in the dining room with us. More info…
Restaurant La Strada

For another delicious meal out, we visited the dog-friendly Restaurant La Strada. They have tables on the street outside and some inside, which is great on a colder winter day. Both the inside and outside are nicely decorated, making it a pleasant place to spend time.

They serve both Romanian beers and wines to enjoy with your meal, as well as soft drinks. Their food menu is mostly Transylvanian cuisine with lots of soup and pork options. Their ciorba de burta, aka tripe soup, was delicious and filling. I enjoyed their tomahawk pork steak, which was big. They served this with mashed potatoes and a spicy jam.
Casa Wagner: In The Main Square

In addition to being a dog-friendly hotel, Casa Wagner is also a restaurant. It has an indoor dining area and outdoor seating in the main square. It is a reasonably priced restaurant that serves traditional Romanian cuisine.

Their menu was rather nice, and I enjoyed a selection while visiting Sighișoara. For a substantial meal, I enjoyed their mixed grill with sautéed potatoes and mustard.

For lunch, their charcuterie board starter was delicious. It included local sausages, cheese and salad. They also made a tasty pork stew with cabbage, served with polenta and sour cream. Finally, their rack of ribs was filling and tasty.
Restaurant La Perla

Restaurant La Perla is a pleasant place to eat out on their terrace and enjoy the sunshine. Fruit juice and a burger were the delight of the day for me. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and it was well garnished.

On a later visit, I enjoyed some of their Romanian food in the dining area. The inside has some booths for diners. My meal was a ham hock with Transylvanian beans. It was a fantastic, very filling meal. Both meals were delicious, and La Perla is one of the nicest places to dine out in Sighisoara. More info…
Casa Ferdinand

Just outside the citadel, near the umbrella street, is Casa Ferdinand. Casa Ferdinand is a lovely place that can get busy on the weekends, as we found out. However, on weekday evenings, it was pretty straightforward. They have a vast collection of wines and some continental beers.

Their menu includes pizza and many traditional Romanian dishes. I ate their ribs on my visit, which they served with potato wedges and a salad. The ribs were tasty and tender.
Medieval Cafe Restaurant

Also in the citadel is the Medieval Cafe Restaurant, which serves traditional Transylvanian cuisine. They have both inside and outside seating on the cobbled street. Their menu has a variety of meat options, including lots of pork.

I tried their pork steaks with potatoes and a delicious chutney. Medieval Cafe Restaurant also offers a range of Romanian beers.
Casa Sasească
Casa Sasească Restaurant is in the main square of Sighisoara Citadel. It is a lovely place with outside seating in the square with views. Casa Sasească is an ideal place for a drink or a meal out.

They serve a choice of Romanian beers, including Ursus. Casa Saseasca Restaurant also serves delicious food. I had a delicious plate of mici with mustard here for an early lunch.
La Piazzetta

Just outside of the citadel, down the hill from the Clock Tower, is La Piazzetta. La Piazzetta has a terrace with wonderful city views. This is a great place to enjoy a beer or coffee during the day, especially if it’s sunny.

Their menu includes many pizza options and some traditional Romanian dishes. These include various ciorbas, cascaval, pane, and meat dishes. On our visit to the city, we had a beer and takeout pizza, which was fresh and delicious.
Casa Cositorarului

Near the covered stairway in the citadel is Casa Cositorarului, a pleasant place for a drink. It’s on one of the quieter cobbled streets, so it has a good ambience even when Sighişoara is busy. They have a pleasant outside seating area with views of the colourful side streets. Casa Cositorarului serves Romanian beer and has a food menu I haven’t tried yet.
Casa Kuhn: A Romanian Restaurant

Another restaurant in the citadel is Casa Kuhn. Casa Kuhn has an interesting dining room with lots of books. Their menu is like a newspaper, which is unique. They had some craft beer options, which I enjoyed, but I don’t know their names. For food, we had soups followed by ham hock and beans, which were filling.
Concordia Lounge and Restaurant

Just outside the citadel walls in Sighişoara is the Concordia Lounge and Restaurant. Concordia is a nice place to visit for drinks, either on its terrace or in its bar. They have designed both areas for comfort, and on cooler days, they provide blankets outside. They serve a range of drinks, including Romanian beers.

Concordia Lounge and Restaurant also serves food. Their food menu includes many Romanian favourites, including soups, goulash and bulz. They also have some steak options. We visited on a Saturday evening, and it was very vibrant, with people having fun.
