Střelecký-Archers Island in Prague: Live Music Concert & Bars

Archers Island in Prague is a lovely place to go for a wander or to sit and relax. It has three names: Archers Island, Shooters Island and Střelecký Island. For me, it is a great location for a dog walk; many others have the same idea too. The island has been in the movies; Amadeus, the film about Mozart’s life, was filmed here. Apparently, Mozart visited a small cabin here to relax. Without realising, I had followed in the footsteps of one of my favourite classical musicians.

They also have some places for refreshments with outdoor seating. Some evenings there is also some live music on the stage towards the bridge. I’ve visited quite a few times on my autumn and winter visits to Prague, and all were enjoyable.

This bridge was built between 1898 and 1901, and since then it has had a few names. The design of the bridge is in the Art Nouveau style. It has some decorative features, including bronze handrails and pretty lampposts. It is nice to visit at any time of day, including on misty morning dog walks.

There are a few places to get refreshments on Střelecký; however, it is also a great spot to take a picnic. They also have public toilets here under the arches of the bridge, which are handy if drinking a few pilsners.

The stage bar is next to where they host live music. They serve a range of beers and other drinks. You need to pay a deposit on a plastic glass if drinking here. The picnic tables near the bar are ideal for meeting people and listening to whatever is playing on the stage.

There is a stage with live music on Archers Island in Prague. We enjoyed a few free concerts while visiting on evening dog walks. They have a stage with a bar and nearby seating, so you can enjoy the entertainment. It can get busy here even on a crisp autumn evening; thus, arrive earlier to secure a table.

This was a great place to meet people too, with others joining you on the picnic tables. Apparently, the area also hosts festivals, including Vinofest, which is all about the wine.

Wildlife, including Muskrats

See the Muskrats

The island is home to many species of wild animals, including squirrels and wildfowl. However, you are most likely to come across muskrats, an invasive species that calls the River Vltava home. These are rather tame, and you can feed them by hand, which many visitors do.
