Rides at Winter Wonderland at Hyde Park, London
Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park, London, is a fantastic place to visit for a fun night out. It takes place in the scenic Hyde Park each year during the Christmas period. It’s a fun place to visit if you enjoy the funfairs, good food, and Christmas markets. We’ve visited four times recently and found it great fun.

We enjoyed various rides here, including the epic Ferris wheel that dwarfs the London Eye. The site featured music from the Tides and live performers near the food service area. The 2026 edition runs from Thursday, 19 November 2026 to Sunday, 3 January 2027.

Rides We Enjoyed At Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park

When visiting Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park, you can choose from a wide variety of epic funfair rides. These include traditional funfair rides, some Christmas-themed options, and some epic rollercoasters. They also have stalls with skill/chance games to win prizes, including shooting. We didn’t win…

The centrepiece rides were the Munich Looping roller coaster and the giant wheel. We had seen Munich Looping before in Prater, in Vienna, and it looked scary. The ride is one of the famous rides from Oktoberfest in Munich. Munich Looping is the world’s largest transportable roller coaster, with five loops.
We enjoyed watching loads, but budget constraints limited the rides that we went on. It can get expensive rapidly here.
The Giant Wheel

The Giant Wheel is the tallest transportable wheel in the world, so it is quite impressive to ride. We purchased the regular tickets at the ticket office by the ride and queued for 10-15 minutes via the photo booth. The ride was lovely, and the Giant Wheel’s 70-metre height meant it had some epic views. You could see the London skyline all lit up at night, including the London Eye below.

The views below were epic at night, with the entire sight lit up. They enclosed the ride with glass, so taking photos without reflections or glare was pretty tricky, unfortunately. The Flower Wheel we enjoyed in Vienna was more conducive to taking epic photos. Overall, it was a great ride and a top pick for me.
Real Ice Slide

After thoroughly enjoying tubing at Gloucester Ski Slope for New Year’s Eve a while back, we were drawn to the real ice slide. The queues were quick here and at the ticket booth next to the hut to get your helmet. After paying, you get a helmet and are told to grab a ring and walk to the top of the ice slide.
There was a small queue at the top, waiting for the bottom to clear so the next batch of riders could be launched down the slide. At the top, you sit in the ring, then the stewards line you up, ready to launch the ring down the slope.

The slide was quick and fun; some went fast, and others ran around a few times, with a few jolts on the way down for extra measure. The ticket includes two goes, so you go back to the top to try again. Overall, the experience was great fun and inspired us to do this again.
The Haunted Mansion

We cannot visit an amusement park or funfair together without doing something horror-related. The Haunted Mansion’s exterior decor caught our attention, prompting us to buy tickets and join the queue. The queueing area was cool, with lots of spooky sights.

The ride itself was a two-person cart with your legs dangling. The Haunted Mansion ride took you through various horror-themed rooms on multiple levels, including outside. It was excellent, and the ride and the stall certainly tried to scare you.
The Hangover

I tried The Hangover on a previous visit, and once was enough for me. It’s an 85-metre tower that takes you up nice and slowly with the aim of dropping you to land level rapidly. They keep you hanging around at the top to build anticipation. The wait at the top feels like an age. However, the views are good, and the ride rotates, so you get to see the entire London skyline while expecting to drop.
Aeronaut StarFlyer

The Aeronaut StarFlyer is a ride I’ve enjoyed at many places before, including Birmingham Christmas Markets and Prater. Basically, it’s a high ride where you sit in a swing that spins around at a high altitude.

The wind in your hair and the views are epic. The Winter Wonderland version is 80 meters tall, which is impressive.
Other Rides

Some of the other epic rides include the following.
- Magical Ice Kingdom
- An Ice Rink
- Tornado
- Munich Looping
- Wild Maus
- Euro Coaster
- Ice Mountain
- Blizzard
- Canadian Mountie Fun House
- The XXL
- Airborne
You can find a full list of rides and entertainment options on their website.
Food & Drink At The Bavarian Village

They have stalls selling festive food and drinks in the Bavarian Village section. This area is near the green entrance if you are planning on some delicious food or German beer before exploring the fun rides.

The atmosphere is similar to many of the Christmas markets we’ve visited in Germany and Vienna. During our visits, we usually enjoy bratwurst, German beers, and hot chocolate.

They have various places to sit and enjoy food and drink. The experience includes some nicely decorated beer halls. They also have nice tables with wooden carvings throughout the Bavarian village.

The stalls sell a variety of bratwurst, but I highly recommend the red spicy ones with sauerkraut. If feeling hungry, the loaded fries are excellent.

Getting To Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park
The best way to Winter Wonderland depends on where you are starting. We ended up walking after trying to catch the bus from Kings Road during rush hour. Google Maps said this was the quickest way.
There are various underground options near Hyde Park. The closest to the south entrances is the Hyde Park Corner Underground station. Marble Arch, Green Park and Knightsbridge are all within walking distance. If arriving from Paddington Railway Station, it’s a 30-minute walk.
Entrance Tickets

You can either purchase tickets for Winter Wonderland beforehand or at the gate. They have ticket offices outside the fence near each entrance. We entered via the green entrance, and it took 10 mins to queue. Security checks caused the queue. This included a metal detector and a bag search. You can find a list of banned items on their terms and conditions page. After this, we were straight into the Bavarian Village Christmas market, ready for fun.
For rides, they have a ticket booth next to each ride where you can purchase regular tickets or the more expensive priority tickets. On our visit, the queues were short, so regular tickets worked well for us.
Is Winter Wonderland Worth Visiting?

We really enjoyed visiting Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park, as it ticks many boxes for things we enjoy. The site is beautifully decorated and has a real Christmas vibe. The rides were fun to go on or watch others enjoy. The on-site food and drink were amazing too. Overall, it was a great place for a festive night out. It’s one of many places to enjoy the Christmas vibe in London.

Never knew so many exciting things existed. Just shows you how out of depth I am in my country of birth. :;)
