Clarion Congress Hotel: Dog-Friendly & Near Bratislava Train Station

The Clarion Congress Hotel Bratislava is one of the best-rated hotels near the train station in the Slovak capital. We stayed at the Clarion Congress Hotel for our weeklong trip to Bratislava with Henry, our dog, and really enjoyed our time there. It’s a posh four-star hotel with fantastic bedrooms and facilities.

Clarion Congress Hotel In Bratislava

My review of all the aspects of the Clarion Congress Hotel Bratislava that are important to me.

Hotels in Bratislava

Booking A Stay

Booking was pretty straightforward using Booking.com. We found they met our requirements for this trip using the filters on the site, and within minutes we were booked and received confirmation.

Location

It is very close to the main railway station in the city; thus, it is very handy for those travelling through Europe by train. The hotel has handy tram links to the principal attractions and is also within walking distance. We found the neighbourhood quiet, with a few bars and restaurants to pop into.

Check In

Check-in was painless when we arrived, as we had done their pre-check-in forms and had already paid. The reception told us about the city tax to be paid before we left and the extra charges for Henry, our dog.

Reception - Clarion Congress Hotel Bratislava

We mentioned that we would love a room with a bath if possible, as it was my wife’s birthday. The receptionist found us a room with a bath and gave us a free upgrade to a superior room. This also allowed us access to the Executive Lounge, which saved us a fortune in coffee and co-working days.

On check-in, we also asked for two keys for convenience. This was no problem. Overall, the reception staff were friendly and spoke English.

Bedroom

We ended up with an upgrade to a superior room. The room was pleasant, and the bed was comfy. Everything was spotless and had all the essential facilities.

Dog Friendly Hotel in Slovakia

The shower and bath were perfect for relaxing after a long day of sightseeing. The room has a coffee machine and complimentary soft drinks in a small fridge, which was handy for keeping cans of beer cold.

This room had great air conditioning, which was perfect on a hot day. Finally, the curtains really kept the light out, meaning the sunrise didn’t disturb my sleep. One improvement, an extra socket next to the bed, would have been perfect.

Shared Spaces

The reception area has some comfy seats to sit down and watch the world go by. We had access to the executive lounge, so we enjoyed that more frequently. This was a perfect spot for remote working, and they have some computers for guests to use.

Apparently, there is also a gym at the hotel. Walking in the city was enough exercise for me on this trip, so I cannot comment on the gym.

Wi-Fi Speed

The Wi-Fi was pretty good with stable speeds. It was suitable for blogging, browsing and watching movies online.

Pet Friendly

Hotel Dog Friendly

If you want somewhere posh and pet-friendly to stay in Bratislava, then the Clarion Congress Hotel is fantastic. It is a 4-star pet-friendly hotel and one of the nicest hotels we have ever stayed in. Their rooms are ideal for travelling with dogs and are soundproof, so people walking past don’t disturb your dog.

They are very comfortable rooms with all the facilities. Henry was fine using the other area of the hotel, and we saw other pet owners with their dogs at breakfast.

Breakfast

Their breakfasts are delicious, with lots of dishes at their buffet, including a near-full English breakfast. They serve breakfast from 6:30 am until 10 on weekdays and until 11 am on weekends. The breakfast area can get busy; however, before 8:30 seemed to be the optimum time for me.

Breakfast - Clarion Congress Hotel Bratislava

For drinks, they have three fruit juices, cold water and a variety of coffees. These are all self-service, and you can grab as many as you like. For the breakfast buffet, they have a few sections. First, there are the breakfast cereals. Then a lovely section of fruit and yoghurt. The sliced grapefruit and pineapples were my top picks for the healthy half of my breakfast.

Next up was the continental selection, including cold meats, cheeses, pickled herring, and salads. Not my thing for breakfast; however, Henry really enjoyed his daily slice of turkey ham. Then a cooked food section. This included bacon, sausages, hash browns, eggs, beans and cheese-covered tomatoes. They had lots of different breads to enjoy with your breakfast.

Housekeeping

To get your room refreshed by housekeeping, you need to put a sign on the door and tick which service you require. The days we wanted the room cleaned, this worked perfectly.

As we travel with a dog, we more often than not put the ‘do not disturb’ sign on and just ask the housekeeper for extra towels or toilet paper without issue. On my wife’s birthday, they left a bottle of champagne after cleaning the room. Sadly, their laundry service has been discontinued, but we found a laundrette nearby.

On-site Restaurant & Bar

Hotel Restaurant

Signature Bar & Lounge is the on-site restaurant and bar at the hotel. It’s a beautifully decorated place and a pleasant place to spend time.

Signature restaurant

They have an à la carte menu featuring a twist on local cuisine. Signature Bar also has some fantastic drinks, including local beer and flavourful lemonades. I enjoyed a few Slovak beers with my meal, and my wife had the apple lemonade.

Hotel Bar Bratislava

After much deliberation, I enjoyed their pork loin, and my wife had their crispy chicken. They cooked the pork in dark beer and served it with creamy celery, crispy cracklings, and chervil. The food at the Signature Bar & Lounge was delicious, and the service was good. Thus, I highly recommend Signature for a meal out or drinks.
