Free ATMs Using Revolut in Slovenia, Ljubljana & Lake Bled
This is a guide to choosing which banks to use to get free ATM cash withdrawals with Revolut VISA cards in Slovenia. Sometimes it’s not possible in certain places, so I’m including details of cash withdrawal fees for the various ATMs.

Overall, I found quite a few options for free ATM withdrawals in Slovenia. This includes major cities like Ljubljana, Maribor, and Celje.
Is Cash Important in Slovenia
Despite what people on forums say, cash is still king and essential in Slovenia. Some bars, restaurants, and shops accept only cash payments in euros, so having some is pretty important. Also, paying for buses and trains seems to be mostly cash-only. Some trains we used in Slovenia didn’t accept card payments, especially on the Ljubljana to Rijeka route.

For some accommodation booked in advance, they wanted payment on arrival in cash, too. This often meant a few trips to the ATM.
Free ATM Withdrawals In Slovenia And Other Fees
Compared to Croatia, Slovenia has many more banks that offer free ATM withdrawals. So I usually take out as much as possible when passing through Slovenia. We’ve used ATMs throughout the country, including in Maribor, Ljubljana, Celje, Ptuj and Lake Bled.
Bankomat UniCredit Bank

Next to my local supermarket in Ptuj was a dated UniCredit Bank ATM. They charged nothing for withdrawing euros, as many banks in Slovenia do. They have a guide to find branches throughout Slovenia, which is handy for finding one of their ATMs.
Addiko Bank

Another bank that I withdrew cash from for free was Addiko Bank in Celje. Addiko Bank has many branches throughout the country, and you can find them on this handy web page. I think the reason I haven’t tried these until 2024 is that they don’t have very central ATMs in the popular places I’ve visited.
ATMs Which Charge Fees in Slovenia
If you can’t find a free ATM nearby, here are the fee-charging ATMs I encountered while in Slovenia.
OTP banka
Another ATM I saw a lot in Slovenia is OTP banka, formerly SKB and Nova KBM. Nova KBM is a bank from Maribor, and it seems to have great locations. They charged a fee of 6.5 Euros on my last stay in Lasko.
NLB Group

On my recent visit to Ljubljana, the capital, I tried an NLB Group ATM to withdraw 10 euros. The machine was easy to use, and in the final step, it informed me there was a 5.99 euro charge, so I hit the cancel button, as this was steep.
