Tried and Tested Restaurants and Bars in Hévíz, Hungary
Hévíz, near Lake Balaton in Hungary, is famous for its thermal lake, and nearby are some very good restaurants. We have enjoyed visiting the Thermal Lake of Hévíz three times and always dine out and have a few beers afterwards. Many of the town’s restaurants serve delicious Hungarian cuisine.
Restaurants and Bars in Hévíz
Liget Royal Restaurant
One of my favourite places to eat out in Hévíz is Liget Royal Restaurant. This is a posh place with a nice dining room and a covered terrace. They have a good food menu with modern twists on traditional Hungarian foods. They specialise in wine but have a good choice of beers too, including Borsodi.
On my visit, I chose the roast pork with creamed cabbage from their specials menu. This was very tasty, with big portions too. The servers were friendly, spoke good English and made the meal out special.
Kocsi Csárda
We dined at Kocsi Csárda before visiting the lake. Kocsi Csárda is a lovely restaurant with a large dining area and outside seating, too. They specialise in traditional Hungarian cuisine, and their menu is interesting.
For my meal, I enjoyed their goulash, which ended up being my most memorable one so far on my visits to Hungary. It had a lovely flavour and was quite warm in flavour.
Hofbräu Vendéglő
Another pleasant place for food and drink is Hofbräu Vendéglő. During our visit, they were all decorated with autumn- and Halloween-themed decorations. Hofbräuhaus in Munich apparently inspired their restaurant. The name certainly drew me in. Here we enjoyed a few beers after a swim, which was nice.
For food, they serve both Bavarian and Hungarian cuisine, including the national staples of goulash and halászlé. As a bonus, they also have a dog bar for those visiting Hévíz with a pet.
Corner Grill
Another place we visited for food out in Hévíz is Corner Grill. Corner Grill is a budget eatery near the thermal lake and is ideal to fill up after some swimming. They have a nice terrace to sit outside and some seats inside too. Corner Grill serves a variety of drinks, including Hungarian beers like Soproni. For food, I enjoyed a burger with local cheese and fries.
