Street Art & Graffiti in Sofia Including Some Fantastic Murals
Sofia has lots of street art to see on the city’s streets. This includes some fantastic murals that cover entire buildings. While sightseeing in Sofia, you will notice many of these works of art. Alternatively, if street art is your thing, then you could opt to go on one of many guided tours. Sofia also has graffiti, like most cities, some by talented artists, others just tagging.

Finding street art is also a fantastic theme for a dog walk while in Sofia. As a bonus, there are some dog-friendly bars and cafes near some of the murals.

Street Art Walking Tours in Sofia, Bulgaria

The most prominent walking tour I noticed for street art was Sofia Graffiti Tour, which offers free walking tours. These take place every Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. You can also book private tours with them, too. If interested, you can find times and locations on their website.
You can also arrange other tours on GetYourGuide, which takes you to the best urban art in the city. On the tour, you will also learn about the artists and the stories behind the art.
As I was travelling slowly, I opted to find the street art organically as I explored Sofia. As a rough guide, the Visit Sofia website has a map that you can download.
My Street Art & Graffiti Photos From Sofia
As we stayed in Sofia for 3 weeks, I had lots of time on my hands to explore all the nooks and crannies of Sofia. Thus, I spotted lots of street art and graffiti while exploring.
Arsek & Erase

On ul. Tsar Samuil, a short walk from the Women’s Market, is a mural by Arsek & Erase. It covers an entire building and is rather pleasant.

This was part of the City Gallery Pirtoska project. You can see more of their art on the Arsek & Erase Instagram.
St George By BOZKO

Near the thermal water springs is a fantastic depiction of St George and the dragon. This is rather big and takes up the entire side of a building. This artwork is called St George and was created by BOZKO.
Cafe Mural

Near our accommodation in Sofia, there were lots of cafes. Some of these had excellent murals, including this one for Cafés Richard.
Mural by Arsek & Erase

Near the mosque and central market is the excellent mural by Arsek & Erase. This one really brightened up the area and was very prominent.
Mural By Gana At The Women’s Market

In the heart of the Women’s Market in Sofia is one of my favourite pieces of street art, which covers the rear of a stall selling nuts. This on-theme mural is by the artist known as Gana.
Parked Life

On a side road off Vitosha Boulevard, near Nirvana, a fantastic vape shop has a mural called Parked Life. This covers the side of a building and features a stack of vehicles during a flood with birds sitting on them.
By The Catholic Cathedral

Just outside the entrance of the Cathedral of Saint Joseph Street near the St Sofia statue is a small building that is covered in a mural. This one is the sixth edition of Graffopost and features Mouse.
Wall of Prosperity

The Wall of Prosperity, or Стена на благоденствието, is on the side of a building near St George’s Rotunda Church. It features quotes and photos of many famous people, including Mother Teresa.
Street Art By Stern

Another cool mural is on the wall above Skaptobara, a pleasant cafe. This is a short walk from the hot springs and regional history museum. This one was by a graffiti artist called Stern.
Candle In The Dark

This street art is called Like a Candle in the Dark. It is by Iliev Yeto and can be found on ul. Iskar in Sofia inside a fire station car park.
Street Art By Jahone

This rather striking mural by Jahone is to create awareness about blood cancer.
Charlie Chaplin

Another cool mural in Sofia features Charlie Chaplin, an actor from a bygone era. This is by the artist called MAD and is on a bakery wall.
Other Murals

Outside the main artworks on the tour maps, there are some other murals throughout the city. Some are interesting, others brighten up areas, and others are political.
Borisova Gradina Park Graffiti

Borisova Grădina, near Vasil Levski National Stadium, is a hotbed of graffiti. The park is the oldest and best-known park in Sofia and houses two stadiums. There is a variety of murals to see, some even relating to the local football clubs.
Rayz Street

Another cool mural on the side streets of Sofia is Rayz Street, which is rather colourful. Rayz Street has a few artworks.
Monumental wall painting

Next to Theatre 199, Valentin Stoychev is a lovely mural on the side of the building. It looks a bit traditional, and there were many in this style when we visited the former capital, Veliko Tarnovo.
Agarta Restaurant

Another place with a street art-style fascia is Agarta; it looks wonderful and on theme. Agarta is a restaurant in Sofia that serves delicious food.
