Dog Friendly Pubs, Restaurants & Hostels in Brno
While visiting Brno for just under a week with Henry, we found it to be pretty dog-friendly. We found pet-friendly accommodation with little effort, and while out and about, many bars and restaurants allowed dogs inside or on their terraces.

Brno is also great for a sightseeing walk with the dog. There is plenty of shade and some big parks with grass near the central areas. During our visit, we saw other people out with their dogs.
Dog-Friendly Bars & Restaurants in Brno

There was a good range of bars and restaurants that allowed dogs, and we saw quite a few others out with their pets. A rule of thumb is that places which are not pet-friendly have signs near the entrance. As a bonus, many establishments have outside seating where pets are welcome.
Stopkova Plzeňská Pivnice

My favourite restaurant in Brno, Stopkova Plzeňská Pivnice, is very clear that pets are welcome. They have a big sign on the entrance that says they are dog-friendly.

They are an excellent place for hearty Czech cuisine, and the portions are massive. Henry very much approved of their pork knuckles.
Lokál U Caipla

Another pet-friendly restaurant in the city centre is Lokál U Caipla. Henry didn’t join us, but many other diners were inside with their dogs. Lokál U Caipla is a top place for Czech beer and food. We enjoyed their slow-cooked ribs with a dark beer gravy.
Podnik café bar

Another tried-and-tested place was Podnik Café Bar, which was near our accommodation. Podnik Café Bar is an ideal place for beer or coffee with the dog. Henry enjoyed sitting outside here; however, other guests were inside with their dogs.
Putyka U Mika

A nice pub I enjoyed visiting with Henry was Putyka U Mika. They have a covered outside seating area, and it was my favourite place for drinks. They have a good selection of drinks and very fast service.
Cafes at Spilberk Castle

We visited various cafes on the Spilberk Castle hill with Henry, and most had bowls of dog water. Many other people visited with their pets too. The hill is excellent for long walks, and it was great to have somewhere for a break.

While researching our visit, we found a choice of pet-friendly places to stay in Brno. Most of these were on Booking.com and Airbnb. As we were on a budget, we opted for the cheapest option, Hostel Eleven.

This is a backpacker hostel with shared facilities and private rooms that allow dogs. Staying with a pet cost an extra CZK 150, which was paid at check-in.

The bedrooms were comfy, and they were fine with guests leaving well-behaved pets. We found the kitchen very basic and good for backpacking, picnics and microwave meals. It was a shame they didn’t have a small hob for cooking.
Finally, the shower was a bit ropey and low-pressure, and all the showerheads were damaged. It took twice as long to get clean and required acrobatics to keep clothes dry because there were no hooks. Overall, we enjoyed our stay here despite the faults and would possibly return.
Pet Shops

When travelling with a dog, an important consideration is where to buy food. Brno has some great options, including DM Drogerie Market, which supplies Henry’s go-to food for sensitive dogs. There were also other independent pet shops in the city.
Sightseeing Walkies

Brno is a fantastic city with plenty to see on a dog walk. We visited the city’s attractions with Henry. This includes the castle park, the cathedral grounds and town squares in Brno.
