Where To Eat & Drink In Brno, Including Traditional Restaurants
During our stay in Brno, I enjoyed visiting various restaurants, pubs, and takeaways. When travelling, I always like to mix it up and enjoy some local food and beers. In Brno, we enjoyed some fantastic local beers and some delicious Czech cuisine.

To save money, we also tried local bakeries and takeaways for food to go. Overall, we found many options for staying in Brno on a budget, along with some treats, too. If you enjoy food and drink, one of the top things to do in Brno is to visit its traditional restaurants.
Most food places seemed to accept cards; however, some pubs I visited were cash only. For these, it is a good idea to find a free ATM in the Czech Republic beforehand.
Where To Enjoy Beer or Eat Out In Brno
These are the places that we enjoyed dining out or having a Czech beer while visiting Brno. There are also many other options that we skipped this visit, but looked great when passing. As a bonus, many restaurants in Brno were dog-friendly.
Stopkova Plzeňská Pivnice: My Favourite Restaurant

My favourite meal out in Brno was at Stopkova Plzeňská Pivnice, a pretty cool place. Initially, I was drawn in by their frontage, which looked interesting, and I enjoyed a few beers.

We then returned for a meal out in their bar, which was fantastic. They are a popular place, and most seats were taken or reserved, but luckily enough, we got a good seat. The server was friendly and was quick with drink orders and humoured our indecision with food.

We both enjoyed humongous meals, which we ended up sharing. First up was the pork knee with all the trimmings, including horseradish and apple, apricot mustard and spicy pickled cabbage. This meal was fantastic, and I took home a doggy bag for brunch the next day.

We also enjoyed the Old Czech KOLKOVNA platter, which was also hearty. This included 1/4 roast duck, Moravian sparrow, smoked ham, and smoked beer sausage. They served this with white and red cabbage and three kinds of dumplings: bread, fat and potato. Overall, Stopkova Plzeňská Pivnice was a great place for food, especially as we were hungry.
Lokál U Caipla: A Traditional Czech Restaurant

For our first meal out in Brno, we chose Lokál U Caipla, as it was pretty close and served Czech food. Lokál U Caipla is a pretty cool place. However, it was very busy on our visit because it was Friday evening, and they have an excellent reputation for food. We managed to get a table inside, which was great.

For drinks, we enjoyed some Pilsner Urquell from the Tankovna and some lemonade, both of which hit the spot.

For food, I enjoyed spare ribs slow-cooked in dark beer. They served this with mustard, horseradish and some bread. Lokál U Caipla was a hearty and delicious meal and a great dining experience.
Putyka U Mika – Hospudka, Pivnice

One of my favourite places for a chilled time in Brno was Putyka U Mika – Hospudka, Pivnice. Putyka U Mika is a pretty cheap place for drinks and has a covered outside seating area. It’s a real drinkers’ pub, and the server was efficient and seemed to love his beers. They also serve food, apparently, but I usually arrive too late for this.

I enjoyed various beers here, including Starobrno, the local beer. This was a great drink and one of the cheapest that I enjoyed in the city. Putyka U Mika accepts cash only, which is right up my street when choosing pubs for a session.
Point Café • Bar

One of the first bars we visited in the centre of Brno was Point Cafe. They have a lovely outside seating area with views of the astronomical clock and the rest of Náměstí Svobody. They also have a nice indoor seating area, making it a beautiful place for drinks.

For drinks, we enjoyed some tasty Pilsner Urquell and some berry lemonade. Both hit the spot on a warm day. The service was fast, and the servers were friendly, which added to the experience. They accept both card and cash payments; however, with a card, you need to go inside to pay. I returned a few times when exploring the city.
Monte Cristi
One of the cool places for a light bite in the city is Monte Cristi. Monte Cristi specialises in empanadas. They make homemade empanadas with various locally sourced fillings. I tried a few of their offerings when I had the munchies, and the pork and cheese versions hit the right notes for me. They also offer a spicy chilli sauce to accompany these.

You can choose either takeaways or have them cooked and served on a board in the cafe. Monte Cristi also offers a drink menu to complete the dining experience.
Jinde Bar

In the historic centre of Brno is Jinde Bar, a pleasant place to spend time. It has a lovely indoor seating area and is popular in the mornings. This place was one of the earlier bars that was open for drinks in the morning, which led me here initially.

Jinde Bar provides at-the-table service and serves coffee, beers and breakfasts. They had a good choice of beers, and my tipple of choice here was a large Radegast 10. Radegast 10 is a nice, flavoursome drink and different from the Pilsner Urquell that is the default beer in many pubs in the city.
Bageterie Boulevard

If you fancy some fast food with a difference, then Bageterie Boulevard is pretty cool. It’s set up like the regular corporate places but specialises in baguettes. Ordering is pretty straightforward using their console, which translates to English.

We enjoyed one of their platters, which was various flavours of baguette with fries. This was a quick and simple meal that didn’t break the bank. You can also dine in or order a takeaway. There are other Bageterie Boulevards throughout the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
